As we reported before, the .mx registry was planning a new release of the .mx domain. This release started last Friday.
On Friday May 1st the pre-registration period for .mx started. This period lasts 3 months and ends on July 31st. During this period only current owners of a Mexican domain name (for instance .com.mx, .net.mx,…) can register this name under the .mx extension. The name you want to register under .mx needs to be exactly the same as your current Mexican domain name. Moreover your current Mexican domain name needs to be registered before March 1st 2009.
If you meet the above conditions, you can register a .mx name without a problem. Otherwise you’ll have to wait until September 1st. On this day, the initial period, the so called go-live, for .mx begins and everyone who wishes to do so can register a .mx domain name from then on.
