Cybersquatters have registered domain names and created Twitters accounts of almost every semi-finalist of Britain’s got talent. 33 of 40 semi-finalists, including the in the meanwhile world famous Scottish Susan Boyle, have become the victim of cybersquatting. Reason is that only a few semi-finalists had registered domain names and created Twitter accounts in their own name before the start of the talent show.
The cybersquatters mainly registered .com and .co.uk names. This could make it very tricky for the final winner to create an online identity since most of the interesting domain names are already registered. Right now, most of the domain names don’t link to a website, they’re just holding pages. Of course this could change once the final winner is known.
