The .uk-registry (Nominet) has announced that they will start allowing direct registrations under .uk mid 2014. Now only registration under second levels like .co.uk and .org.uk are possible. As can be seen in our previous posts on this subject, there has been lots of discussion about this. During the two consultation rounds which where held by Nominet over the last year, many negative reactions where received, but Nominet still is going forward.
DNSBelgium, the registry provider that will launch the new extensions .vlaanderen and .brussels in less than one year, has announced that they will offer multiple sunrise periods. This means that you don’t need a trade mark registered in the TradeMark ClearingHouse to be able to participate in one of the sunrises.
On December 3rd Denic (.de-registry) introduces a grace period of 30 days for expired .de names. With the current procedure a .de-name becomes available for registration again immediately after he expired.
