Release .xxx extension

The .xxx registry has announced the time schedule for the release of the .xxx domain. This release will happen in 3 phases: a sunrise, divided into sunris A en B which wil run parallel, a landrush and at last the general availabilty.

1) Sunrise
The sunrise will begin on September 7th 2011 and will end on October 28th 2011. The sunrise will be divided into sunrise A and B which will run parallel.

a) Sunrise A: If you want to register a domain name during sunrise A, you need to meet the following conditions:

• You’re a member of the Sponsored Community AND
• You’ve got a registered trademark OR
• You’ve got a registered domain name under another extension of which the registration was completed before February 2010

A member of the Sponsored Community is someone who already operates pornographic website. If you meet those conditions you can register your trademark or domain name under the .xxx extension.
If 2 or more applications would be filed for the same name, this name will be sold during an auction after the sunrise. Only those who filed a valid application can participate at this auction.

b) Sunrise B: The following persons can file an application for a .xxx domain during sunrise B

• You aren’t a member of the Sponsored Community
• You’re the owner of a registered
  

If both a member and a non member of the Sponsored Community file an application, the member of the Sponsored Community will be given priority. He/she will however be informed that a non member wished to block this name.

2) De landrush
The landrush for .xxx will begin on November 8th 2011 and end on November 25th 2011. During this landrush every member of the Sponsored Community, meaning all persons who already operate a pornographic website, can file an application to register a .xxx domain name.

If 2 or more individuals apply for the same name, this name will be sold during an auction after the landrush. Only those who filed a valid application can participate in the auction.

3) General availability
This phase will start December 6th 2011. From then on, every member of the Sponsored Community can register a domain name under this extension. Applications will be treated on a first come, first served basis.

Also individuals who aren’t a member of the Sponsored Community can file an application in order to protect their intellectual property for personal domain names, company domain names, product domain names, etc. that didn’t have prior qualifying rights under Sunrise B.
