Release .com.de coming soon

On  June 20th the .com.de extension wil be released. This release will happen in 4 phases: a sunrise, a landrush, a .de registrant promo phase and the general availability.

De sunrise: This will start on June 20th 2011 and end on July 22nd 2011. If you wish to register a domain name during this sunrise, you’ll need to meet the following conditions:

• You need to be the owner of a registered trademark or a German company name
• The registration of your trademark needed to be completed before July 30rd 2010

If you meet those conditions you can register your trademark or company name under the .com.de extension. Moreover you’ll also need to provide paperwork to prove you absolutely are the owner of this mark or company name.

If 2 or more individuals apply for the same domain name, this name will be sold during an auction after the sunrise.

De landrush: This will start on July 25th and end on August 26th. During this landrush everyone who wishes to do so can apply for a .com.de domain name. If several applications for the same name are received, the name will be sold during an auction after the sunrise.

.de registrant promo: This phase will run from August 30rd until September 26th. During this promo phase, owners of .de domain names are given the chance to register the same name under the .com.de extension.

general availability: As from September 26th, everyone who wishes to do so can register a .com.de domain name. From now on, applications will be treated on a first come, first served basis.
