The Somalian registry has just sent out a message to inform everyone the sunrise period for the .so domain will be extended until December 31st 2010. So this period is extended with one month. The reason for this extension is the hugh success of the sunrise period of the Somalian domain. Due to this extension, the starting dates of the other periods also change. Below you’ll find a new overview:
– Sunrise: November 1st 2010 until December 31st 2010
– Landrush: January 10th 2011 until February 28th 2011
– General Availability: April 1st 2011
To register a domain name during the sunrise period you need to keep some things in mind and you need to meet certain conditions:
If 2 or more people apply for the same domain name, those names will be sold during an auction after the sunrise to the highest bidder.
During the landrush and the general availability, everyone who wishes to do so, can register a .so domain name. If during the landrush 2 or more people apply for the same domain name, those names will be sold during an auction after the landrush to the highest bidder. After the start of the general availability applications will be treated on a first come, first served basis. Both during the landrush and the general availability, it will be possible to register .so domain names per year.
