Release .sa domain

In January 2011, the Saudi Arabian registry will start the release of the .sa extension. This release will happen in several phases. You need to meet certain conditions if you want to register a .sa domain name during these phases.

Sunrise: The sunrise will start on January 10th 2011 and will end on March 7th 2011. To register a domain name during the sunrise you need to meet the following conditions:

• You need to have a registered .com.sa domain name
• You can only register the .sa domain name you already have under the .com.sa extension
• Your .com.sa domain name needed to be registered BEFORE December 6th 2010
• You need to provide a proof that you have a trade mark valid in Saudi Arabia. You need such trade mark anyway to be able to register a .com.sa domain name
• You need to provide some paperwork to complete this registration. We’ll send you the paperwork. You’ll need to sign and stamp those documents.

Landrush: The sunrise will be followed by the landrush. This landrush will start on May 2nd 2011. During this landrush, everyone who wishes to do so can register a domain name under the .sa extension. However you need to meet the following conditions:

• You need to have a Saudi Arabian trademark. You’ll also need to proof you’ve got such trademark
• You need to provide some paperwork to complete this registration. We’ll send you the paperwork. You’ll need to sign and stamp those documents.

Furthermore a local company needs to be the owner of this domain name for both applications during the sunrise and the landrush. If this isn’t the case with your application, you can use our local presence.
