On February 20th 2012 the landrush for .jp.net domain began. This landrush will end on March 16th 2012. During this landrush everyone who wishes to do so, can register a domain name under the .jp.net extension. Moreover it’s also possible to register 1 and 2 character domains.

Over 100 million .com registrations

ICANN, the umbrella organisation for gTLD’s, just published the numbers of the last quarter of 2011. These show that on October 31st 2011 100.540.971 .names were registered under the .com extension. In October 2011 alone, 690.243 new names were registered under this extension.

Smooth landrush for new AFNIC extensions
