NIC.uy expected to announce sunrise for .uy

Our correspondent in Uruguay has informed us that the .uy-registry will most probably announce the release of registrations directly under .uy within the coming days or weeks.  Because this is not official yet, an exact launch date isn’t know yet.

All owners of a .com.uy domain name will see their domain name activated directly under .uy, normally this will be done for only a small fee or maybe even no fee at all. After one year, they will then be able to decide if they want to keep the domain name or not.

A local address is required for a domain name Uruguay, but by using local presence anyone from all over the world is able to register such a domain name.
