Preferential period .mt almost over

When the Maltese registry started the release of the .mt extension on December 1, 2017, they created a so-called preferential period. This period ends on November 30, 2020.

During this preferential period, the Maltese registry blocks the .mt version of all .com.mt and .org.mt names registered before December 1, 2017. Owners of such a .com.mt or .org.mt name are given priority to register their name directly under .mt. Moreover, they can use their .mt name for free during this preferential period.

But this period ends on November 30, 2020. From then on, anyone who wishes, can register a name under .mt and as the owner of a .com.mt or .org.mt you can no longer assert any rights to a specific .mt. name.

After the preferential period, the use of your .mt name that matches your .com.mt or .org.mt name is also no longer free of charge.
