DNSLU (the .lu registry) has announced that they will soon release 1 and 2 character .lu names. As a result, all the following names will become available: 1.lu, rd.lu, bp.lu, hp.lu, ék.lu, … The only names that you will not be able to register are lu.lu and ns.lu . The release will happen in 3 phases.
If there is only 1 valid application for a name, it will be assigned to the company or trademark owner that submitted the application. In case of 2 or more valid applications, the name will be sold to the highest bidder. When submitting the application, you can specify a maximum price that you wish to spend on this name. In this way it will be determined who is the highest bidder. If there are 2 parties who have made the same offer, a random drawing will be determined to whom the name will be awarded.
A non-refundable fee is also associated with a sunrise application, regardless of whether you are assigned the name or not.
Landrush: November 2, 2020 – November 30, 2020
During this second phase of the release, anyone who wishes to submit an application can register an available 1 or 2 character .lu domain name. If multiple requests are received for the same name, the name will be sold to the highest bidder.
General availability: from December 15, 2020
During this phase anyone who wishes can register a still available 1 or 2 character .lu name. From then on, names will be awarded for a fixed annual price via the first come, first served principle.
