.pro registrations rise enormously

Since November 16th 2015 you no longer need to meet special conditions to be able to register a .pro domain name. This turned out to be a very good decision.

If you wished to register a .pro domain name before November 16th 2015, you had to show you were a professional. You needed to be licensed by a government certification body, recognized by a governmental body, that required its members to be licensed or admitted to provide services. You also needed to be in good standing and needed to be a person or company that provides professional services .

The only result all those conditions had, was that many people and companies decided to not register their name under .pro since it was rather devious.

However on November 16th 2015 the registry decided those conditions were no longer needed and now, only 3 months later, this turns out to be one of the best decisions they’ve ever made. It took a while before everyone ‘discovered’ this extension but since the beginning o February 2016 the .pro registrations exploded. On February 8th 2016 138.474 .pro names were registered. One week later, on February 16th 2016, 248.320 .pro names were registered. So in one week there were almost 110.000 registrations. The absolute peak was noted on February 15th 2016. That day 38.455 new .pro names were registered.

So don’t wait any longer to register your name under .pro and to show everyone you’re a true professional.
