.cloud turns out to be a hit

The release of the new extension .cloud turns out to be a great success. Since February 16th 2016 everyone who wishes to do so can register a name under this new domain and everyone seems more than willing too.

The .cloud go live, the moment from which on everyone is offered the possibility to register a name under a certain extension, was a huge success. In only 24 hours, 17.991 .cloud names were registered which brings the total amount of registered names on 20.347. The remaining 2.356 names were registered by companies who were given priority to protect their name under this extension.

However this means that approximately 88% of all registered .cloud names were registered within a time frame of just 24 hours. Obviously the .cloud registry is over the moon with this result.
