Trade Mark Clearing House opens his doors

On Tuesday March 26th 2013 Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) has opened its doors. From now on owners of a registered trademark can file an application for this trademark at TMCH.

Registering your trademark at TMCH is neccesary if you wish to register your trademark under a new gTLD during the sunrise of that new gTLD. Moreover you’ll also receive a warning when someone tries to register your trademark under a new gTLD.

You can register your trademark at TMCH for 1 year, 3 years or 5 years. Once you’ve done that you can subscribe on sunrises that take place during this period of time (if you do register your name under a new gTLD during such a sunrise you’ll need to pay for this domain name seperately). It is expected that the sunrises of all those extensions will be spread over a few years, so filing an application at TMCH for more than 1 year might be a good idea.

To make sure your registration at the Trademark Clearinghouse happens as smoothly and easy as possible, you can file your application via an agent.
