Over the past five years, .\u0435\u044e 1,369 names have been registered, representing approximately 5% of the internationalised domain names (IDN) in EURid&#8217;s (.eu registry) portfolio. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"nl\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">The .\u0435\u044e extension appears to be the most popular in Bulgaria, with 51% of registered .\u0435\u044e names linked to a Bulgarian website.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"nl\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">&#8216;To support online multilingualism, EURid is actively working to increase the use of IDNs,&#8217; says Giovanni Seppia, registry manager of the .\u0435\u044e extension, among others. &#8216;The universal acceptance of these domain names implies that they can be used without problems in Internet browsers, e-mail and Internet applications,&#8217;\u00a0 Seppia adds. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"nl\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">In addition to the Cyrillic .\u0435\u044e extension, EURid also manages another IDN extension, namely the Greek .\u03b5\u03c5. Under this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnamed.net\/en\/extensies\/Europe?\">.\u03b5\u03c5 extension<\/a>, 2,708 names have already been registered since the release of this extension in 2019. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"nl\" data-phrase-index=\"0\">Due to the growing importance of IDNs, EURid`s .eu Web Awards introduced a new category &#8211; &#8216;Best of .\u0435\u044e and .\u03b5\u03c5&#8217; &#8211; in 2021 to distinguish the most outstanding websites<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The .\u0435\u044e extension, the Cyrillic version of the .eu domain, is celebrating its fifth anniversary.
