On February 1, 2020 the United Kingdom has left the European Union. Until December 31, 2020 the UK and the EU have entered a so called \u2018transition period\u2019. During this transition period UK citizens and residents can still register domain names under the .eu domain. However this will change from January 1, 2021.<\/p>\n
After the transition period organisations and citizens in the UK will no longer be eligible to hold or register a .eu domain name.
\nSo also existing owners of a .eu domain name with an address in Britain could loose their domain name at that time.<\/p>\n
To make sure UK owners of an existing .eu domain name can keep their name after the transition period, EURid will notify them in time so they can take appropriate action.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong><\/em>EURid will notify all UK registrants and their registrars by email asking them to update their registration data before December 31, 2020. They have 3 options to make sure they meet .eu registration conditions:<\/p>\n
\n– By proving their citizenship of a EU Member State
\n– By indicating a legally established entity in one of the EU Member States
\n<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/em>EURid will resend an email to all UK registrants and their registrars who haven’t taken action yet after the mail of October 1, 2020
\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/em>EURid will again notify UK registrants and their registrars who haven’t taken action after both previous mail telling them their .eu registration no longer meets the .eu framework and is therefore withdrawn.<\/p>\n
\n<\/strong><\/em>All .eu domain names which were withdrawn on January 1, 2021 and for which no action has been taken will become available for registration again<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
