However for a while now, there have been rumours that this local presence will soon no longer be a restriction to register a domain name under the .al extension. If so, the .al domain would follow the example of the .lu (Luxembourg) and the .fr domain (France) who, a few years ago, also decided to liberalise meaning local presence was no longer necessary for a domain name registration.<\/p>\n<p>However we would like to emphasize there are only rumours at this point in time. We haven&#8217;t received any confirmation from the registry yet.
